GENEALOGY ENQUIRY SERVICE

Ullapool Museum offers a Genealogy Service, specialising in the Parish of Lochbroom.

Genealogy information is available for personal research, or with assistance from staff members if required. Staff can also carry out genealogy searches for enquirers – a postal/email service is available. A search of the 1881 Census for the UK is also available.

The Census Returns for Lochbroom

1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901

The 1881 records are on CD Rom and cover all of Great Britain
The others are on microfilm and are also transcribed into folders if you would rather view them in this format

The Ordnance Survey Original Object Name Books

The Name Books give information about all the place names listed on the First Edition Ordnance Survey Maps, when surveyed in 1875:
Lochbroom; Ullapool; Coigach; Gairloch; Lochcarron; Droma; Easter Ross

The Inland Revenue Field Books (1913)

On microfilm:
Information regarding Buildings and Sites in Lochbroom Parish, including Ullapool and Coigach. Plans and dimensions of buildings are very often included.

The Men of Loch Broom

A record of the men who fell during the First World War. The book includes photographs of most of the men.
