‘100 years of fishing in and around Loch Broom' by J R Coull @ £3.00
‘The Leckmelm Evictions' by E Williamson @ £15.00 'The Statistical Accounts of the Parish of Lochbroom' @ £4.50 Three Church of Scotland Ministers were requested to describe the parish of Lochbroom at three very different times in its history - 1795, 1835 and 1955. These are not boring statistics, but interesting, readable descriptions of life in the past, right down to the going wage for a labourer and the price of butter. The 1955 Account will surely tweak the memories of many people living in Lochbroom today. For instance, Loch a' Bhraoin, Inverbroom and Auchindrean were still owned by Lady Fowler. There were 21 tractors in the parish, but most of the ground 'still had to be turned by the spade or the cas-chrom ...'.
