Tales and Legends of Lochbroom by Roderick MacKenzie
Roderick Mackenzie of Red Row, Ullapool (1850-1930) was the local bard and storyteller. He recorded the following stories in a notebook around 1900. Some of them appeared in an Anglicised form in A Guidebook to Lochbroom and Ullapool first published in 1903. The Guidebook describes him as “Our Local Senachie”, from the Gaelic “Seanchaidh”, a reciter or recorder of tales.
